About the course

This PSP60816 Advanced Diploma of Translating course is designed for students who already have advanced bilingual skills and seeking for a professional level career in translation industry.

Our translation course focuses on English to LOTE(Mandarin) specialisation. Students will be beneficial from this course by gaining the advanced linguistic transfer skills needed in translating in specialised settings.

Entry Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age over AND
  • Have satisfactorily completed an equivalent secondary schooling level of a School Certificate AND
  • Have an overall IELTS band score of minimum 5.5 or equivalent AND
  • Meet the Students Visa 500 subclass requirements AND
  • Students will also be required to undertake an FEG English replacement test to confirm that the student has adequate skills in Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN). Replacement testing includes reading, writing, oral communication, listening and numeracy skills.

Certification

On successful completion of the entire course, you will be awarded a nationally recognized PSP60816 Advanced Diploma of Translating testamur with an academic transcript.

On successful completion of some units but not the full course, you will be awarded an academic transcript listing the units completed.

Assessment

A range of assessment methods are employed by FEG to ensure that assessment is fair, valid, reliable and reasonable, and to meet the requirements of the relevant Training Package and the rules of evidence. The assessment process will include the gathering of evidence to demonstrate the student’s competence.

Assessment methods and strategies are consistent with the Training Package Assessment Guidelines. All assessment tools are mapped to the current version of the unit of competency including all elements, performance criteria, knowledge evidence and performance evidence and assessment conditions.

Students will be advised of the assessment requirements at the beginning of each unit and provided with details of when assessment will occur in the timetable.

To determine the student’s skills and knowledge in a unit of competency, a qualified trainer and assessor will conduct assessments. Trainers/ assessors will be provided with a Marking/ Evidence guide which will provide clear instructions and guidance on the assessment process and the criteria on which to base the judgment of competence.

Pathways FROM the qualification

After achieving this qualification, candidates may progress to higher level qualifications within and/or across the public service sector including other Advanced Diploma qualifications.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an assessment process that assesses and individuals's formal, non-formal and informal learning, and work experiences to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a VET qualification.

Credit Transfer

This means transfer of credits from units of competencies achieved in formal and nationally recognised education and training system to equivalent units of competentis, satisfying the required competency standards.

Students can apply for RPL or Credit Transfer before they commence the course or a particular unit. Students must provide evidence that they are already competent in the particular unit/s.
